In this podcast, we’ll be hearing an interview with Yungchen Lhamo from our SONIC HEALING MEET THE MASTERS VIDEO COURSE. This is from Session 4: Prayer Medicine & Tibetan Mantra.

Yungchen Lhamo was born in Chinese-occupied Tibet where her grandmother taught her the traditional devotional singing. In 1989, she escaped from Tibet by walking over the Himalayan Mountains to India. When she met the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, he recognized her musical ability and encouraged her to share the richness of Tibetan culture through her voice. She has performed worldwide in support of Tibetan causes. Her music has been released through Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records and also included in soundtracks for numerous movies about Tibet.

This session gains the perspective of medical professionals as we meet with husband and wife team Dr. Larry Dossey and Barbara Dossey. They shed light on prayer, spiritual healing and the roll music plays from the standpoint of a medical physician and a holistic nurse. Dr. Larry Dossey has probably done more than anyone in the medical field to bring awareness of the power of prayer and its effect on the healing process. He has written many books and articles and his research has been extensive in compiling data about the phenomenon of unexplained ‘miracle cures’ and remissions linked with prayer and non-local mind.

Dr. Dossey served as a battalion surgeon in Vietnam, hospital chief of staff, Executive Editor of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine and lectured at major medical schools and hospitals worldwide.  Enjoy.

Melinda Witter is a professional trainer and practitioner of conflict mitigation, community and human development. She is deeply familiar with the dynamics of the Middle East region, with 12 years of ethnic and religious conflict resolution, tribal mediation, civil society, conflict analysis, and cross-cultural communications including use of music and cultural art exchange in Iraq and Afghanistan. She is a certified spiritual mentor, teacher of mediation, and she is working on her PhD with the focus of Spirituality in Peacebuilding. Melinda tells her courageous story of using percussion workshops in Iraq to bring opposing groups together.
