Dean Evenson is one of the true visionaries of the Ambient/New Age musical genre.  He is a prolific musician and composer, an entrepreneur, media pioneer and the co-founder of Billboard-charting independent music label, Soundings of the Planet. At every turn, Evenson’s life has taken bold steps in new and exciting directions. The success and pioneering nature of his creative work attest to a dynamic personality and a life-long commitment to the positive evolution of life on this planet in relationship with the natural and spiritual world. Evenson’s story is that of an artist, technological innovator, broad-minded thinker–a modern-day Renaissance man.

Dudley Evenson co-founded Soundings of the Planet in 1979 with her husband Dean Evenson. Together, they have produced over 80 albums and videos. She has been the Executive Producer, art director and copy writer for all of the Soundings releases in addition to performing her harp and doing guided meditations on many albums. Dudley is a certified professional life coach and has trained with Impact Coaching Academy. She is  an AARP Life Reimagined Guide and leads Life Reimagined Checkups.

She has taught overtone chanting and healing voice workshops for thirty years. Through her workshops and seminars, she presents diverse forms of sacred chant, especially Mongolian overtone chanting. She has researched the magical properties of the voice studying with Gyuto monks, American Indians and shamans from different traditions as well as performing with innovative German composer Karlhaus Stockhausen and teaching with her husband, biologist Rupert Sheldrake.

Peter Ali Interview on Soundings Mindful Media Podcast

We hope you enjoy this interview with Peter Ali who has released an album with Dean Evenson called Prayers on the Wind: Native American & Silver Flutes.

Peter Ali is a Native American Flutist who resides in the Pacific Northwest.  He has inspired and comforted many through his music since first hearing the call of a Native American style flute at a low point in his own life. He then found his way towards healing through teaching himself to play the flute. Peter comes from a unique blending of cultures. His mother is from Sonora Mexico and is of Mayan, Pima Indian, and southern European descent. His father is of Berber descent from Morocco, North Africa.

After many years of flute playing, Peter discovered that his paternal grandfather had also played the traditional Ney flute for ceremonies and gatherings. Peter has gathered a wonderful collection of wooden flutes, each with a unique voice that he directs and brings to life. He performs and teaches flute playing and flute making through various Native American tribal programs, schools, public libraries, and other venues. He was a featured performer for the Dalai Lama during the Seeds of Compassion Seattle event. Peter’s latest musical offering is a collaboration with Dean Evenson called Prayers On The Wind.

Andi Goldman, Jonathan’s wife and partner, is a licensed psychotherapist, specializing in holistic counseling and sound therapy. She is the Director of Healing Sounds Seminars and Executive Director of the Sound Healers Association. She is a musician, teacher, author and sound healer. Together, Andi and Jonathan have dedicated their lives to a path of service, helping awaken and empower others with the ability of sound to heal and transform.

In this interview, he shares his own healing stories involving new musical forms with a focus on harmonics.. His healing story is powerful and fascinating. After a near fatal motorcycle accident, doctors told him that he might lose all feeling in his right hand and left leg and he would not walk or play the guitar again. Fortunately, he had the will to prove them wrong and began playing acoustic guitar while he was recuperating. An exquisite new music surged and flowed

from him. He attributes the music and a year spent swimming with wild dolphins and whales for his incredible healing.
